Keeping kids busy for a week can be a challenging task. It takes patience and a full schedule of activities. Here are five ideas for family fun during their school break.
Try Fun Recipes
Start by looking at cookbooks with your kids for inspiration and let them choose one based on difficulty. Muffins, cookies, granola bars, the easier the recipe, the more fun you'll have. You can find recipe books specially designed for children in good bookstores like Renaud-Bray.
Have a Backyard Olympics
You and your kids have enjoyed watching the Olympics on TV. Snowshoeing, sledging, hockey or speed skating are all fun challenges that can take part in your backyard or even at the park! Organize a medal ceremony for the winners. You can find the necessary sports equipment and warm clothing to enjoy your day in the great outdoors at speciality stores like Sports Experts or Empire.
Redecorate the kids' room
Without getting into anything complicated, suggest that your children refresh their decor. According to their age, involve them in the different stages. Repainting a wall, replacing frames and posters, changing the bedding or sticking wall decals are all good ways to change the decor with ease. Browse sites like Pinterest together for inspiration. Take your kids shopping at home improvement stores like Bouclair, Simons and Clément. The more they participate, the prouder they will be!
Create an art exhibit
There's no shortage of craft activities to do at home: a large mural painted with water-based paint on a long roll of paper, crafts, pottery, clay figures. Let your imagination run wild. A visit to arts & craft stores like Staples and DeSerres will inspire you. You can even pick up some great finds at Dollarama for less. Organize an art activity each day of the week, then have a big show at the end of the week.
