From inspiration to final achievement: do it yourself…
This project is inspired by the trend “two tone lace” that is seen in spring 2012 runways.
I am proposing this exciting project so that you can do it yourself at home. It will take about twenty minutes of your time and is both interesting and very easy to reproduce. Keep in mind that you will neither need a sewing machine nor much sewing talent.
I used a camisole and a black lace dress. You can use whatever you want as long as you have an item in lace with a lining and an item displaying a vibrant color, whether a piece of cloth or clothing that you do not use anymore. What is important here is to choose a vibrant color that will highlight the lace and update your clothing item for the spring season.
I approached this project with a special strategy in mind: not to ruin the dress or camisole because I want to reuse both of these pieces eventually by undoing the seams.
Step 1.
Start with the bottom of the dress. Line up the edge of the camisole with the edge of the lining of the dress.
Step 2.
Start sewing. You can sew crudely; you don’t have to be very precise because the lace is going to cover the seam and nothing will be visible to the eye.
Step 3.
Take the two straps of the camisole and tie them at waist level. Make sure that the knot is placed in the back.
Step 4.
Add a belt to cover the knot and voila!
You have a new dress that is perfect for spring!
