I have decided to write an article that will help you prepare as much as possible for your getaway, without forgetting anything vital at home.
Where are you going? How long do you plan to stay? What do you intend to do once you get there? How will you reach your destination? These are all very important questions you will need to answer…but whatever the answers to these questions, the most important thing to do is to start off by filling your bags intelligently.
Prepare yourself in advance. If you pack at the last minute you may forget some things that might be useful during your trip. Do yourself a favour therefore and prepare a list of items that you will need to bring with you. You can then add whatever comes to mind as you go along. Then make sure that everything is clean and that there are no spots or holes in the clothes.
Important questions to ask about the luggage weight allowed on train, bus or airline
How many bags do you have the right to bring with you? What is the maximum weight allowed for each bag? This can vary from one company to another. To avoid any surprises when boarding, it would be prudent to review this information when purchasing tickets or by contacting a customer service representative before you start filling your luggage.
On the other hand, if you exceed the weight limit allowed, the excess weight might prove to be very expensive. When I say expensive, I am not kidding at all! In fact, in some cases, it is cheaper for you to pay for an extra bag than the cost of exceeding the legal limit. It goes without saying that weighting the suitcases at home ensures that you will not have unpleasant surprises later on.
Before leaving
- Make sure you have your ID cards, passport and tickets with you.
- Do not forget to charge your electronic devices if you plan to use them during your trip. At the same time, prepare all your chargers and find out if you need an adapter to provide power at your final trip destination.
- Keep in mind that it’s cold enough in any aircraft once it gets going. I suggest you bring a good pair of socks if you’re in sandals and a large scarf so you can cover yourself if necessary.
The suitcase
Choose your luggage according to the information you collected from your travel company regarding the dimensions and weight allowed.
Identify your bags with brightly coloured ribbons. It is always difficult to spot your baggage in a heap of similar suitcases. By customizing your suitcase you can identify it quickly and you will also help avoid the situation where someone else leaves with your belongings. You do not want any confusion when you eagerly arrive at your holiday destination and especially not have to wait several days for your luggage to be found.
Clothing
When you are ready to take action, that is to say pack your bags, roll your clothes to maximize your use of space. Rolling your clothes also prevents them from being wrinkled when you arrive at your destination.
Shoes
Your shoes should be separated, one from the other. In this way you maximize the use of packing space in your suitcase.
TIP: I insert my shoes into shower caps that can be found at the dollar store or any other outlet. The elastic easily wraps around the shoes and avoids soiling or damaging the rest of your clothes. You can also put some items including rolled socks in your shoes for a little more storage space.
Makeup bag
Bring only what is strictly necessary. Most girls tend to bring more than what is actually needed. Do not forget your hair accessories and jewelry.
Have a safe and worry-free trip !
